Refer a Mate $500 Referral Programme — Terms & Conditions
Effective date: 13 June 2026. Promoter: Metro Machining Pty Ltd (ACN 165 059 941), Campbellfield VIC & Drouin VIC.
Plain-English Summary(not part of the terms)
Refer a good tradie to Metro Machining. If we hire them and they stay through their full 3-month probation, we pay you $500. You must register your details and agree to these terms to be eligible. This is a reward for a genuine referral — not a prize draw, lottery, or game of chance.
1. What the reward is
1.1 Metro Machining will pay a referral reward of AUD $500 (gross) to an eligible Referrer for each eligible Referred Candidate who is hired and successfully completes their full 3-month probation, subject to these terms.
1.2 The reward is a fixed $500 per successful referral — not recurring, not a percentage, not negotiable.
2. Definitions
Referrer = the person who submits a referral and registers their details. Referred Candidate = the person whose details are submitted. Hired = signed a Metro Machining employment contract and physically commenced work as an employee. Probation = the first 3 months of continuous employment per the employment contract. Successfully completes probation = remains continuously employed and is confirmed in the role at the end of the 3-month probation, and is still employed on the date the reward is paid.
3. Who can refer
A Referrer must:
3.1 be 18+ and legally able to receive payment in Australia;
3.2 register their details (full name and a current phone and/or email) and agree to these terms before or at the time of referral;
3.3 not be the Referred Candidate themselves;
3.4 not be a recruitment agency, labour-hire firm, contractor or anyone under a separate commercial recruiting arrangement with Metro Machining;
3.5 not be a Metro Machining director, manager, or anyone involved in the recruitment, selection or hiring decision for the role;
3.6 confirm they have the Referred Candidate's consent to share that person's details.
Current Metro Machining employees not involved in the hiring decision are eligible.
4. Who can be referred
A Referred Candidate must:
4.1 have the legal right to work in Australia and hold or be able to obtain any required qualifications, licences or tickets;
4.2 be genuinely new to Metro Machining — not a current or former employee and not already known to us (already applied, been sourced, been contacted, already in our pipeline, or referred earlier by someone else);
4.3 not be the Referrer's own current employee;
4.4 apply and progress through Metro Machining's normal recruitment process. Referral does not guarantee an interview, trade test, or job.
5. How to claim
5.1 Submit the candidate's details and register your own contact details; incomplete referrals are not valid.
5.2 The candidate must name you as referrer when they apply or are first contacted; where there is doubt, our records of who registered first decide.
5.3 One Referrer per Candidate — only the first validly registered referral is recognised; rewards are not split.
5.4 We contact the candidate directly and are not obligated to share candidate progress, for privacy reasons.
6. When the reward is paid
6.1 Payable only when all are true: (a) candidate eligible; (b) referrer eligible; (c) candidate Hired; (d) candidate successfully completed the full 3-month probation; (e) both candidate and referrer still contactable and the candidate still employed on the payment date.
6.2 Paid within 30 days of the candidate's confirmation at end of probation.
6.3 Paid by electronic bank transfer to an Australian account nominated by the Referrer.
7. When the reward is NOT paid
Examples:
7.1 candidate not hired, withdraws, or fails any stage;
7.2 candidate does not complete probation (resigns, terminated, abandons, or not confirmed for any reason);
7.3 candidate already known to us or referred earlier by someone else;
7.4 false, misleading or incomplete information, or consent not genuine;
7.5 referrer or candidate did not meet eligibility.
8. Tax
8.1 The $500 is gross; each Referrer is responsible for their own tax and should seek advice.
8.2 For current employees, Metro Machining may process the reward through payroll and apply any required withholding.
9. Privacy and consent
9.1 By submitting, the Referrer confirms they have the candidate's permission to provide their details for recruitment.
9.2 Metro Machining uses personal information only to administer the programme and recruitment, in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth); details are not sold or shared for unrelated purposes.
10. One reward per hire; no stacking
10.1 Only one $500 reward per successful hire, to one Referrer.
10.2 Cannot be combined with any other placement fee, agency commission, or recruitment incentive for the same candidate.
11. Our rights
11.1 Metro Machining may change, pause or end the programme at any time; referrals validly registered before a change are honoured under the terms that applied then.
11.2 Metro Machining has final discretion (acting reasonably) on eligibility, whether a candidate was already known, who the valid Referrer is, and whether a reward is payable.
11.3 We may withhold or reverse rewards obtained through fraud, collusion, gaming, or breach.
12. Nature of the programme
12.1 This is a reward for a genuine business referral that results in a successful hire. It is not a lottery, prize draw, game of chance, or trade promotion, and no purchase is required. Any "win"/"jackpot" wording is a figure of speech for the $500 referral reward described here.
13. General
13.1 Governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
13.2 If any part is invalid, the rest still applies.
13.3 These terms are the entire agreement for the programme and override earlier promotional wording to the extent of inconsistency.
13.4 Contact Metro Machining for questions about the Refer a Mate programme.
