Bucket Wheel Excavator
A bucket wheel excavator arrived from Germany in three sections, and every joint had to be machined so the sections went together as one machine. The drive coupling circles had to be line-bored to tolerance — a 20-hole pattern sitting within 0.03 mm. The assembled sections were so big that getting them out again meant taking the shed walls down.
- Machined the section joints so the three pieces assembled true
- Line-bored the drive coupling circles to tolerance
- 20-hole pattern machined on site — 0.03 mm clearance
- Took the shed walls out to move the finished sections
